Khaki + Aztec Skater

Today was my day off from work and I decided to pop through to town to do a little bit of shopping. I needed to pick up a dress for my graduation, and some flat comfy shoes as I'm going to New York next month and will be doing LOTS of walking. I ended up getting a simple black bodycon midi dress from River Island, and some high tops with aztec details from Topshop. No doubt you'll see both items in the next few weeks.

For my outfit today, I decided to wear a dress as it was fairly warm, but I layered over my Zara gilet for a little bit of extra warmth. I didn't bother with a long sleeved jacket as wasn't outside at all. I wore my cut-out ankle boots, as I've been wearing them everyday, they're so comfortable and go with basically any outfit!

Dress - Topshop
Gilet - Zara
Socks - Primark
Boots - River Island
Rings - Assorted

Tip: Adding a khaki gilet over a girly dress gives it a cool, casual look.

Dark Florals

I've featured this dress on the blog back in November. I didn't wear a belt with it then, and thought it needed a bit more definition at the waist. So this time, I put skinny waist belt and I much prefer how it looks.

I really like how this dress looks with bare legs, and with my nude loafers for a more spring/summer look.

Dress - ASOS
Belt - River Island
Shoes - Primark

Tip: If your outfit is quite dark, keep your shoes and accessories nude to lighten up the look.

Minty Prints

My Mam bought me this gorgeous Zara jacket for my Birthday last month, but this is the first time I've worn it, as the weather has been rubbish so I've been wearing heavier jackets to keep the chill out!

Since the jacket is fairly 'busy', with the aztec print and quilted leather detailing, I decided to pair a a simple cream/beige vest top underneath and blue skinny jeans. I've had these blue shoes for quite a few years, and I thought they matched perfectly with the jacket for a more dressed up look.

Jacket - Zara
Top - New Look
Jeans - Topshop 'Joni'
Shoes - Primark

Tip - Matching your shoes to your jacket looks great when the rest of your outfit is neutral!

T-Shirt Dress

This is the outfit I wore on last Friday. I had a second interview, but it was a little more relaxed so I decided to go for a slightly more casual look.

The job was the role of visual merchandiser, and in this interview I knew I was going to have to do some 'tasks' so I wanted to be able comfortable and be able to more around easily. The tasks I ended up doing was dressing another girl as if I was dressing a mannequin for the store, and then doing a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of a section of the store. I'm waiting to hear back about that job so fingers crossed everyone!

Anyway, back to the outfit. I picked up this t-shirt dress in New Look the other. When I saw the 'leather' sleeves I just had to have it, it's so me. I paired it with some black tights and cool black and white aztec printed ankle socks that peek out from my cut out ankle boots. A simple necklace pulls the look together.

Dress - Cameo Rose at New Look
Socks - Primark
Boots - River Island
Necklace - Dorothy Perkins

Tip - While the weathers still chilly, add some cool ankle socks to your cut-out boots

Wishlist #49 - River Island Special

1. Well I think I have documented my love of jackets and outerwear in general on this blog. I think I would always choose a jacket over a new pair of shoes or a bag any time. This light blue colour block biker jacket will be perfect as a cover up for the summer, rather than a heavy black leather jacket.

2. Neon is everywhere this spring/summer, and this lime cap sleeve panelled skater dress is perfect for channelling the trend but with a feminine twist. Pair it with nude accessories to keep to the more girly feel, or black for an edgier look.

3. What drew me to this purple embroidered raglan sleeve sweatshirt is the asymmetric floral embroidery on the sleeves. Normally, detail like this is symmetrical  and the detail on this sweater give it a vintage feel.  A pair of denim shorts and some converse will give this sweater a really cool look.

4. I NEED this grey tattoo girl print t-shirt in my life! I absolutely love tattoos, especially sleeve tattoos. Unfortunately, my boyfriend does not, therefore I won't be getting a full sleeve tattoo myself :(. This t-shirt with the image of a girl with lots of tattoos is the closest I'll be getting! I really like grey tees too, this will look great with black skinnies and some ankle boots for a casual look.

5. These black embellished strap block heel sandals  are the perfect mix of a casual sandal with something a bit more smart. The beading on the strap give the sandals a luxe feel, so could easily be dressed up for a night out with bodycon dress. Obviously they would also be perfect for the summer with anything from shorts, skinny jeans or summer dresses.

Tip: Black sandals are a bit more grown-up than the average flip-flop and will go with almost everything in your wardrobe.

Tailored Monochrome

This is the outfit I wore for a job interview. I wanted to look smart, but a bit 'on-trend' too.

I love this blouse from H&M. It has a kind of peplum shape to it, as there is elastic at the waist, but not all the way round to the front, which makes it super flattering.

I paired it woth some plain black skinny jeans, which I thought looked smart enough, and my black blazer.

Top - H&M
Jeans - Topshop 'Joni'
Blazer - H&M
Necklace - Topshop
Boots - River Island

Tip - Don't be afraid to add some personality to an interview or work outfit, either with a pop of colour or a statement necklace!

Wishlist #48

1.  Although it is spring here in the U.K, you wouldn't know it these last few days! It's felt like autumn has come early with the rain and clouds hanging around all day. Bad weather aside, a pop of colour is almost essential for this time of year. This River Island Yellow Rib Geometric Pattern Cropped Jumper is perfect. Crop tops are 'thee' style of the season, so this jumper is perfect. The bright yellow colour also makes it great for spring. Not only will you be on trend, but you'll also be warm too.

2. Obviously monochrome has been a huge trend this spring, and it's sticking around for a while yet. This Zara Suede Combination City Bag is the perfect accessory which ties in with the monochrome trend. Not only would it look fab with a black and white outfit, but it would be the perfect bag for a brightly coloured or patterned outfit, as it would act as a neutral accessory. My only worry is that with it being suede, it may get dirty very quickly, so make sure you use suede protector on it!

3. This River Island Light Orange Half Sleeve Mini Dress is a really nice peachy-coral colour, perfect for summer! This dress is so versatile, I could see it being worn with white high-tops for a relaxed weekend look, but also with some nude heels, and nude clutch and gold accessories for a night out.

4. This Topshop Daisy Cami will be so pretty for the summer, either paired with denim shorts and sandals for a relaxed look, or with black skinnys and a pair of bright orange heels for a night out!
